Romania is becoming more and more popular tourist destination. It is also a pefect place for winter sports lovers. Over one third of the Romania's territory is covered by the Carpathians mountains which spread through the whole country. The highest peak is over 2500 metres high. This area offers many skiing resorts with good infrastructure. The winter capital of Romania is located near Brasov. Poiana Brasov provides about 20 km of slopes, restaurants, hotels, a water park and spa resort. The other skiing resort is Predeal the highest-located town of Romania. Besides skiing, visitors can also visit medieval castle located in its surroundings. The region of Sinaia offers the highest peaks what makes Sinaia resort very popular one. Romania offers a variety of slopes which suit both beginners and intermediate skiers, as well as picturesque landscapes and unique culture.

Predeal is a popular ski resort situated on the summit separating the Prahova Valley from the Timis Valley. You can find it 27km south of Brasov. It is place for skiers and snowboarders which offers 8.5 km of slopes, 6 lifts, located between the elevations of 1,040 and 1,520 m. The winter season lasts between December and March.
Transalpina – Vidra/Voineasa is located in the middle of Lotrului Mountains in Valcea county. Vidra resort is located on the shores of Vidra Lake - 25 km west of another resort, Voineasa. The resort can be reached only by car from Ramnicu Valcea (100 km) or Sibiu (133 km). There are 6.1 km of slopes, 5 lifts on the elevations of 1,320 and 1,940 m. The winter season lasts between December - April.
Azuga The ski resort Azuga is located in Prahova County. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy 8 km of slopes, 6 lifts. The whole skiing area is located between the elevations of 978 and 1,539 m.Azuga is the newest winter resort on the Prahova Valley and very popular one. The winter season lasts here from December to March.
