Timisoara is a relatively big city and a capital of Romanian region of Banat. It is picturesquely located by the beautiful gorge of Danube River called the Iron Gate and walking along old streets, visitors may recognize ‘the Little Vienna’ in Timisoara. This multi-cultural city may boast rich history and it was selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2021.
We offer you a walking tour around the charming Old Town of Timisoara. You will discover history, places and sites hidden within the old city walls of the Vauban type fortress, built in the 18th century. You will see the castle built by the Hungarian king Carol Robert of Anjou in 14th century. You will take a walk through 3 wonderful squares: Union, Liberty and Victory. You will have a chance to admire other interesting historical monuments: Catholic, Lutheran, Serbian and Romanian Orthodox churches and Jewish Synagogue. You will discover a real Art Nouveau gem, district where the anti-communist revolution started back in 1989. You will have a short break for coffee or tea in one of the cafes or restaurants in the city centre.
